Being Yourself

Why is it that other people's opinions have become so important? Why do we let, and invite people to judge us for what we do? And most importantly, why do we make ourselves unhappy over all this?

Parents might judge us, if we do not conform to their idea of "ideal" children, with perfect grades, friends and ambitions. Friends may judge us, if we don't do or believe in what the rest of the "group" does. Teachers may judge or censure us, if we're not "good enough". And finally, society judges us if we don't lead the perfect lives- suitable careers, marriage, children.. The whole package.

If we don't stick to these norms, we're labelled as " different", and not "living up to expectations". We're just so hypnotized by what everyone expects, that we automatically follow the society's lead. Why is that, do you think? It means that, we're basically robots, programmed to think and do what someone else commands.

I know that a lot of people have already said this, but we should stop being robots. Lead our own lives. Dream. Follow those dreams. Be crazy. Sing that song on the stage, even if you have the worst voice in the world. Tell someone you love them. Take that road trip you've always dreamed of. Doing this will have consequences. Have the courage to deal with them. But lead your life, your own way. Cherish every moment. Have the confidence to tell everyone to go to hell!

Be independent of everyone, in every way possible. Dependence just leads to expectations, which lead to disappointment. Nothing is worth our own peace of mind.
Be free.

LIVE.
